Color Purple Blog Posr Assignment
Throughout The Color Purple there are several differences between the movie and the book. These such differences are put into place because over the movie would not give the reader the reader the overall feel of the book. Firstly, one major difference is the structure of the book. In the book the store is broken into different letter, and Cellie writes mainly to God. In the movie it just goes into her life with a simple narration. Another difference would be the in depth relationships the book gave that the movie failed to do. Such as the book explained deeply into the relationship between Cellie and Shug. The movie shows this but fails to portray the details that were needed to show the importance of there relationship.
Secondly, the narration of the story would play a key role in the difference of the story and novel. In the book the reader would be able to understand Cellie more in depth. But the vague narration did not show many details that the boom showed. Also the movie portrayed Shug with less importance as in the novel. In the story Shug was portrayed as a strong woman with little feelings, but the movie showed she did have feelinhs when she tried to please ber father who did not approve her lifestyle. Lastly, the transformations some charachters faced such as Albert was not showed towards the end. He positively changed and the movie failed to display his transformation.
In conclusion, the novel The Color Purple will always be one of the greatest works of African American Literature. One major theme throughout the novel was transformation. In the beginning of the novel Celie dealt with self esteem issues and had little education. She also had little control over the life she lived. As the story continued she finally started to realize the importance of becoming a woman. She realized she did not have to stay stuck under Mr., and became a successful charachter in the book. Also Albert had a complete transformation himself. He went from trying to control Cellie and a person who could do no work, to a man who worked his own farm and cleaned his home. These are very important aspects in the development of his charachter. Lastly, the transformation the charachters underwent helped the reader understand that sometimes change can be for the better, and Cellie benefited from her troubled past.

Letter to Ralph Ellison
Dear Ralph Ellison,
Your novel Invisible Man has become one of the most remarkable books in society today. The profound content and themes of this story has truly made others realize and understand what it means to be invisible. Im a society of inequality and hate, there are still many people who are in the world today that are invisble. In the time period you wrote this book, many African Americans were invisible the majority in our society. Even those that tried to make the white man happy, still were looked at as jokes. One remarkable quote from your text came from the prologue which stated "I am invisble, understand, because people refuse to see me." This quote was so important to the overall message of the story because it helped one understand what invisble means, and what it meant to you when ypu wrote this story. This quote alone helps the story continue to remain relevant even today because many people are still being unrecognized and unheard of. Another important quote in the story came from the first chapter which stated "About eighty-five years ago they were told that they were free, united with others of our country in everything pertaining to the common good, and, in everything social, separate from the fingers of the hand. And they believed it. They exulted in it. They stayed in their place, worked hard, and brought up my father to do the same." In this quote it reallt made me understand a deeper meaning into the word invisible. Once the majority realized they could no longer enslave people, they changed and tried to seperate people. The problem was many did not resist this and basically continue to live their daily lives. But the problem is they were not free. They were still in the control of others. This still exists in society today, but the word Freedom is used to cover this up. We are free from enslavement, but we are not free from racist and prejudice people, and the inequality that still exists in society. This book will continue to open the eyes of many readers for many years to come. The relevance and the importance of this book has made it into a true classic novel!

Invisible Man Chapter 7
1. The vet uses a metaphor when giving advice to the narrator. He is basically telling thr narrator to live his own life and make the best out of it and that he should not suck up to making whites happy. Basically a way to play the game without doing too much.
2. The vet tells the narrator to be his own father so he can get opportunities and guide his own life. He also gives him advice to stop following others and take his own lead and create his own opportunities. This is important because it would help him live his own life without someone guiding him.
3. The allusion of being Jonah in the belly kf whale is alluded to. As the narrator goes to a new city is thrown off by how much is going on and needs guidance to decipher what is going on.

As the story progressed he tries to figure out the type of person he is and who he will become. He finally realizes he is invisible in the hands of a white man's society.
2. Inequality and Race- inequality and Race is a major theme of this story because of the time period in which the story takes place. In the poem "I Too" as well being black im at the time a white America was difficult and dealt many defeats.
3. A county of false dreams- This is a major theme to both this story and one of the poems because this country stands for one thing but does another. Each individual American is guaranteed Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, being black in America made the country and its leaders lool lile hypocrites.
Connections
I Too- Two of the major themes connect to the poem I Too. That is Race and inequality and finding your identity in white America. Langston Hughes talks about how when company comes he has to sit in the back because he is the darker brother. But he has hope for a better tomorrow where he want even be asked to go to the back. Invisible Man Chapters 4,5, and 6
1. The imagery in chapter four affects the narrator because he begins to think about past events that happened, such as with the road. These events allow him to think different about the campus, and he see it as a threat.
2. The narrator dislikes Trueblood and the people at the bar because he could get expelled for the setting he is in. Also because he is just another black student with potential but racial injustice threaten his future.
3. The effect of comparing the building to an old plantation house is pretty deep. Since the building looks like one of those that where owned by slave masters it was easy to get that perception. Also the narrators feels threatened because he is black, and Mr. Norton is white which adds to the irony the narrator is going through.
4. Dr. Bledsoe achieved his power in society because he basically went alomg with the culture at the time and knelt down to the white man. He sought to make the white man happy, and he carried himself well.
5. The mirror and aquarium are metaphors because they give off great meanings that impact the message of the story. The mirrors shows how the narrator and Dr. Bledsoe changes their personality on how they address white people. They struggle with whether to bow down or live a life of their own. While the aquarium just shows how far the black generation has came yet ti still be behind.

1. The rhetorical argument between the blood shot eye and the moon is that the white man always has his eyes on the actions of black people. Although that person may have been through a lot and has been torn a part the eye also represents how the white man may see a black man as a threat.
2. The overall tone is mainly sarcasm. The author is sarcastic about things and talks dowm on them as well.
3. The importance of the italicized passage is to show how important the narrator's feelings are about the things that are going on now and from his past.
4. The text says Dr. Bledsoe had the decorum of a portly head waiter. This is significant because it shows the inequality between him and the trustees. They had more power but he was more sharp.
5. Rev. Barbee alludes to the different figures of Christianity and the days of slavery.
6. The founders death was seen as a good thing because the things he created and worked for began to flourish, including his teachings.
7. Sound devices are used the portray the meaning of the word black throughout the story. The story if portrayed in a dark world full of hate. Most of the things the reverend says he is blind too.but tries to make others see the light of it.

Chapter 1 and 2 response!
1. In the second paragraph allusion is used when he stated "a fair bird-girl gilded in veils calling to me from the angry surface of some grey and threatening sea. This is a reference to greek sirens. Sirens are dangerous creatures who guided people to their island witb music but shipwreck them.
2. The narrator is basically trying to say let them keep doing you wrong, that it comes back on them so hard that it kills them.
3. The narrator is sognificant for comparing himself to Booker T. Washingon because he did not want to do the Battle Royal at the event because it would take away from his speech. He felt he needed to impress the white man much like Booker T. Washington did back in his time.
4. The narrator have contradictory or mixed feelings because the blond man does not see him as a person but yet stills expects him to be a clown and act as if he has no feelings. Like just because the black man is a nobody it is ok to torture him.
5. This chapter shows the limits of assimialtion by proving the point that white men getting a joy out of black being tortured is a hard pill to swallow.
6. Because there was really no enthusiasm for the narrator, but for Trueblood because be impregnated his own brother
7. The quote foreshadows because the narrator is heading somewhere where he has never gone before and does not exoect anything to be normal about it.
8. The juxtaposition takes place as Mr. Morton is fantasized as to how Trueblood has not been punished by god yet, and how the Narrator looks at him as a disgrace to the black community.
9. Trueblood uses a somewhat justified or entiltled tone to discuss this issue. He basically seea no problem with what he dis amd provides back up of how the white community around him supported him. He also is naive to the fact and just blames it on the physical aspects of life.
10. The actual sexual relationship he has with his daughter is ironic. The more ironic part also is that they still have sex with each other more than the wife too. He is completely fine with it and its basically playing into the norms on how the whites viewed the blacks.
11. Truebloods wife called Aunt Cloe over to perforem aborions on her and the daughter. She did want people judging them because of some foolish sin and did not want to be looked at in that manner.
12. The white community loves to see him to continue to shed a bad light on the black community, and to continue to make blacks look stupid. While black people look at him in shame because of his actions amd him not seeimg any problems with it.

Huckleberry Finn Analysis
In the story Huckleberry Fimm, the story takes on a life of its own as it progresses through the story. The overall plot and themes of this story has turned the book into a classic, and has left a profound impact on the readers. The transformation and moral lessons learned throughout the story turned Huck into one of the most famous characters of his time. Huck makes many of his judgements based off of the way he sees things and that heavily benefited the novel as well. Additionally, his views allowed the reader to see and understand the ignorance of society and thw inhumane parts of it. Also a lot of things in the story that took placed often were not smart decisions, but this is because the time period and the culture of the story. Additionally, Hucks ability to adapt in certain situations and keep going also helped with the moral lessons throughout the story. In conclusion, this story will forever be a classic mainly due to the lessons and themes portrayed throughout the story. Hucks way of thinking that he would not allow the social norms made this story and himself a classic.

In the story Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, the story depicts a story about a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein. Victor is obsessed with discovering the cause of generation and life. Ultimately his curiosity and obsession will lead him to create his own monster from within. In the story the monster in which Frankenstein created, goes through a number of problems and ordeals. These problems include not being accepted by others, being different because of the way he looks, and him being lonely because he just wants someone to talk to. This turned the monster on others enabling him to do bad things. This also leads him to be vengeful towards people who did not accept him. He ends up killing Victor's Fiancess, his brother, and friend. The monster did this because Victor failed to find the monster a companion. This enraged Victor, and Victor sought out for the Monster. Towards the end of the story the monster finds Victor dead, and the monster's first sign of emotion is shown in the story. The monster begins to cry over Victor's death because now his only other companion he had was dead, and he was the reason for it. Overall, this was a great story!

Macbeth Acts I and II
ACT I
In the opening if ACT I the three witches are sitting there discussing where and when they meet again. Then it goes on to King Duncan and the Sergeant discussing Macbeth. Along with them was Banquo and Ross. They were discussing how noble Macbeth was and how good of a soldier he was. The king offered his highest praise to Macbeth. Upon Macbeths' visit the three withches prophesied that Macbeth will become the King. Macbeth then begans to question the three witches by asking why would they pick him to become king when there already is one. Banqou as well is encouraging Macbeth to become king as well. As the story goes along, Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth that the three witches sent her a letter about there prophecy about Macbeth becoming king. She wants Macbeth to kill King Duncan when be comes to their palace to stay the night. She comes up with a plan to make it seem as if the guards commited the crime by getting them drunk. At first Macbeth is reluctant to do so but Lady Macbeth pressures him into doing it. The irony of the first Act is, although Macbeth does not feel the same as his wife he still will perform the deed to make her happy. It is like in a sence that Lady Macbeth is the stronger person in the relationship who gives more orders. Also i can infer a bad chain of events to follow in the following acts due to Macbeth not being on the same page as his wife. Furthermore, i can infer that Macbeth and his wife will suffer before the end of the story

Act II opens with Macbeth and Banquo further discussing his role of becoming king. Banqou tell Macbeth that he had a dream of the three sisters. At the time Macbeth was not too focused about him becoming king. His mind was on committing the crime to kill the king. He then talks to himself about his deed to kill King Duncan. During this converstaion he discusses the dagger in which will be used to commit the crime. Then he says when the bells rings he will commit the crime and will be summoned to heaven or hell. At this point Macbeth knows once the crime is commited the place will become of sin and will be a place of hell. Once Macbeth has completed the deed, he goes back into his chamber and talks to his Lady Macbeth about the noises she hears. During this time, Macbeth discusses the words of the drunk soldiers and the others around him. Lady Macbeth also gets mad at him for bringing back the daggers, and takes them back to the murder scene to try to cover up the trail. She then tells Macbeth to wash his hands with water to get the blood off. After the murder was done the sons and others gather to see who could have commited the crime. As the Act concludes strange things began to happen. An owl killed a falcon, and the kings' horses we eating each other. This is ironic because after the crime was commited strange things began to happen. This is signalling more bad things to come along. It also says how the sun had not risen in the day time. Also Ross and Macduff thinks it was the kings sons who did it because they were next in line to inherit the throne but they fled. Lastly, i belive the actions of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth will catch up with them. I think this because, the murder was plotted carelessly, and both of then were not on the same page. I can infer that Macbeth will become king and one of the drunk soldiers come forward about them seeing Macbeth.

Psalms 51
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

Through this Psalm, the psalmist prays for his mercy while confessing his sins to god. The psalmist know they have upsetted god with the way they have acted. Their transgressions they have done have been ungodly of the savior. David also says he was born of sin inyo a sin filled world. He uses this to revert back to the original sin. The next few lines talks about how the psalmist wants to be clean and purified. The person asks to be restored, and a new version of them to be created, because of all the sin they have done in their life. The speaker also asks god not to take them out of his presence and to keep the holy spirit within them. In the final section of the psalm, one could infer thaf God has forgiven the psalmist. The psalmist goes on to say he will teach those who break the laws of the lord, and send the sinners back to him. Through this work the psalmist is looking to be redeemed through god. The psalmist continues by asking the Lord to deliver him from the bloodshed. The bloodshed of all the sin and the wicked ways of the world. Once the psalmist is delivered he will praise the Lord with all of his might. The psalmist then talks about how the Lord likes no sacrifice. But if that sacrifice is a broke spirit, the lord would not reject it. The psalmist ends by praying to God to rebuild Jerusalem, and once this is done they may burn animals. But the Psalmist knew that God did not like the animal sacrificing if, the people did not obey him. In conclusion, the power of psalm is a great them for the story. The tone and overall spirit and mood of the psalmist, gives off the strong power on God.

King Lear No Fear Review
The play King Lear by William Shakespeare, proved to be a great read for our AP Literature class. Due to its complexity many do not read this story until they get into higher learning. Firstly, it was good to have the original text right beside the modern english text. It allowed the reader to go back and look at the actual words before they were translated. Secondly, the play had a great moments of irony within it. Between Lear's daughters, going against him and Gloucester's son plotting against him it produced a lot of irony throughout the story. Additionally, the originality of the modern next benefited as well. Many modern stories bleep out the content which is used but it was unique how this story kept it. Lastly, the story was a great read. It was not a moment of boredness, and Shakespeare kept the readers appealed. It was also a great engaging read for our AP Literature class as we get ready for the year!

Disloyalty leads to Death- Tale
In the ancient city of Rome, the James Dynasty had ruled its vast empire for over two hundred and fifty years. The current heir of the throne was King Katore VIII. Unlike his past ancestors Katore ruled the land with fierce power and might. In fact, he had the biggest standing army in the eastern hemisphere with over 800,000 men. Apart of this vast army, there were over 4000 ships. This army has allowed the empire to expand due to their ruthless tactics and their ability to take over different territories. On the Kings side stood Queen Caitlyn V of England. The Queen had a fierce reputation due to her dominant power on the English throne. Her beauty was like no other and no one would dare step foot in front of her. She too built a vast army and had a huge empire. The two met because of vast trading the empires did with each other. One day they decided to form a treaty which formally made them an alliance. They begin to ruthlessly conquer smaller empires and territories throughout europs and Asia. The two then began to become closer and ended up marrying each other in the capital city of Rome. The two merged their empires to form the most dominant empire in all of the land. Together the two achieved economic prosperity and the love of all the people im their lands. Ahead of the army was knight Solomon V of England. The Queen brought this powerful knight with her from England to head the great army. The knight stood of high descent, a noble man to the people, and a true court to the ladies of the great empire. This knight had a long kept secret in his heart and he was bound to finally let the Queen know his heart. He had a secret love for the Queen for many years and wanted to steal the Queen from the King. As summer begin the King began to take visits to the people of his mighty lands along with the Queen. On many of these trips the Queen stayed back home to manage the throne. The King ordered that the Solomon and his army protect the castle as he left for his royal tour of his empire. This allowed Solomon to get close to the Queen. One day the Queen was alone in her tower when Solomon walked in to check on her. Solomon knew this would be the perfect time to confess his love for the Queen. Solomon entered the room, and the Queen said "Knight what brings you here today?" The knight responds and says "Queen Caitlyn thou beauty and temptation has plagued me for many years and I can no longer resist!" The Queen responds "Knight this is surely not noble of you and you have betrayed your loyalty to the King." The knight then says "Queen I beg you to spare a few minutes of your time so that i may confess thy love for you." The Queen stood there in disbelief and anger. The knight then went on to say "Queen your beauty is so amazing, and for many years I have admired your power and way of rule. Although I have disowned all of my loyalty to the King and you Queen I beg for your sympathy. I ask of you to take my hand in marriage and vacant the throne so that we may go back to England and rule over our lands together. Queen I ask this of your royalty and not under any other descent. My Queen will you take me up on my offer?" The Queen still shocked and responds "thou loyalty to the King and this throne shall not be betrayed if anyone of any descent. To lie of your honor of the King and this throne is unacceptable to this Empire. Today you are scripted of all of your noble powers and you will be charged with treason of this throne. You will be jailed until the King returns. Upon his arrival we will watch as you are punished by way of Guillotine. The Queen ordered the knights to take Solomon out of the castle and to the prison. The next day the King arrived back home in disarray about the events that had occured. He summoned Solomon to the royal court to plead his case. The King asked Solomon "are the claims of thou Queen true of what you told her in my castle?" Solomon replies and says "thou claims are true. I asked the Queen to vacate her throne and come back to England so we may rule our holy land together. I beg your mercy on my soul. I know i have commited thou sin of treason and have became disloyal to you my King and this mighty throne. King Katore replied "If any man of any accent commit treason to thy throne or me will have to suffer accordingly. This here is not only treason but you Solomon has committed a high crime that I may not spare. To become disloyal of the King and to try to court my royal Queen will result in death by way of sword from me. After thou sword has pierced your heart, the Queen's punishment will be granted by way of Guillotine." The King ordered Solomon to be placed on the stairs of the Guillotine. The knights removed Solomon and took him out of the royal court. Outside on the stairs tide to down Solomon eagerly awaited his death. The King took his precious sword which sparkled and appaled many who looked. The King pierced right through the heart of Solomon with one strike" and removed his royal sword. The knights then dragged the body of Solomom up the stairs as he choked and coughed up the blood from his severed heart. His head was placed under the blade and the Queen pulled the latch. The massive blade came down with max force cutting the head of Solomon completely away from his body. The King then gave a speech to the people of his lands. The King stated "If anyone else decides to commit treason to thy throne or change their commitment of loyalty to thy throne, you will have the same punishment as Solomon!" The King and Queen began to rule their Empire again like nothing ever happened. During their rule no other person of their lands vowed to be like Solomon!

Women in Medieval Society
In Medieval society the role of women and the way they lived were alike and different from those during contemporary times. The women during Medieval times often played a secondary role behind the men in society. Many women did not have the traditional contemporary roles. This was due to the way women were viewed during this time period. With accusations stemming from the Original sin in which Eve took the apple from the tree and ate it. Many believed it was Eve whom which resulted in man being expelled from paradise. Therefore, men felt women were inferior to them. In some cases women's roles were only to procreate. One of the main jobs of the wife was to provide food and work on the land for the family. Also in urban areas women sold products of beading and sewed materials. Women also fell victim to working harsh hours to provide for their families. Women made much less than men so they had to work much longer to provide. Additionally, many women were nuns and had been married to the church. Most women either had to marry or take the vow of a nun. There was also an age gap between the wife and husband in Medieval society. Often the woman's protection came from how well they took care of there husband in their last years. After they lost their husband the woman was left with all responsibility of the household. Many peasant women had to work in the fields, make food in the bakery, and tend to their children at home. Some women often worked with their husbands in the field to help out as needed. A symbol associated with women is the distaff. Which is a tool used for spinning flax and wool. In Medieval times an artwork of Eve with the distaff represented women working in the fields after the fall from paradise. Lastly, in Medieval society there were far more greater peasant women than royal ones. Those royal women often spent their lives locked inside a castle with servants doing there work. During times of childbirth servang women often cared for royal women. There were many complications with birth during these times so many women often lost their lives. In conclusion, the roles of Medieval women during the middle ages still relate to many roles of today. Many women still get paid less than men, many men still looks at women as inferior people to them, and women still struggle to hold power in modern day society.

Chaucer's Summary
Geoffrey Chaucer is one of the most famous and admired poets of the fifteenth century. He is most known for his friendly poetic nature and his understandings of human diversity. Although many have portrayed him as the "father of English Literature", literature was around before his time. However, he is credited with many english literature firsts such as, the first novel written in modern sence in the world. Additionally, many has associated his career into three stages which are, french influence, Italian tendencies, and English realism. Chaucer's writing style is also unique because of his ability to apply the human nature to supernatural things. Chaucer also writes from a wide variety of ancient authorities to contemporary poets. On the poetry side his works range from short conventional lyrics to confessions. A major theme of Chaucer's poetry is contrasting authority with that of real life and testing the expected with the actual. The reasoning behind this is because Chauncer was able to bring out more intellectual thought from his readers. His famous writings of The Canterbury Tales, is centered as one of the best comedies of today. This collection is also one of Chaucer's most imaginative collections. Finally, the works of Chaucer left a foundation for many famous English Literature writers after his time.

Blog Assignment #11
Dear Advice Column,
My name is Grant and I am a school teacher here in Bayonne. A couple of weeks ago store owner Mr.Groupè was killed during a store robbery. Jefferson was with two strangers named, Brother and Bear, who needed money. While in the store the two brothers decided to rob Mr.Groupè. Mr Groupè was shot and killed during the robbery by one of the brothers. Jefferson stood there not knowing what to do. He then drank some of the liquor and stole money from the cash register. As he was leaving two white men saw him and called the police. Jefferson then went before a judge. During his trial the state prosecutor called Jefferson a "hog". The jury found Jefferson guilty and he received the death penalty. After the trial, Jefferson's nana pleaded to the sheriff and judge to allow myself to talk to him and make him a man before his execution. I was not excited about this and I really did not know what I would say. The first visit was me and Ms. Emma. Jefferson laid there still on the bed. Ms. Emma cooked him a basket of food and attempted to talk to him and all he said was "what's the point?". As he knew none of this mattered. One day while visiting alone I took Jefferson some more food. He asked if I had bought corn because that's what hogs eat. He then proceeded to get on his knees, put his head in the bag and started to eat like a hog. I really do not have a clue on what else to do. I tried talking to him but it does not seem to be working. I am writing to the Advice Column to figure out my next step.
